A download manager for Mac that cleans up after itself

Boo is a macOS menu bar app that downloads files with parallel connections and sorts them into folders. It's coming soon.

No spam. One email when Boo launches.

What Boo does

Downloads that don't fail

Boo splits each file into parallel segments, so big downloads finish faster. If you quit, your Mac goes to sleep or the network drops, it picks up where it stopped.

parallel segments, auto resume

Your Downloads folder, sorted

New files move into folders based on rules you set. Every move can be undone. Boo also finds duplicates and helps you clear out the stuff you'll never open again.

*.dmg → ~/Downloads/Installers

Videos from 1000+ sites

Paste a link and Boo saves the video as a regular file on your Mac. It works with more than 1000 sites. Video downloads are part of Boo Pro.

Boo Pro

A small ghost lives in your menu bar and shows what Boo is doing, whether that's downloading, sorting or nothing at all.

How it works

  1. Install Boo

Drag it into Applications and open it. Boo shows up as a ghost in your menu bar.

  2. Add the Chrome extension

Downloads you start in Chrome go straight to Boo. Big files get split into parallel segments and resume if anything interrupts them.

  3. Let it sort

Finished files land in the right folder based on your rules. Changed your mind? Undo the move.

Free, with an optional Pro

The core app is free. Boo Pro is a one-time purchase. No subscription, no account, no tracking. Prices come with the launch.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. The core of Boo is free forever. That covers parallel downloads, the Chrome extension, auto-sorting with undo and the duplicate finder. Boo Pro adds video downloads from 1000+ sites. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

Which Macs does it work on?

Boo is a native macOS app built with Rust and SwiftUI, so you need a Mac. We'll post the minimum macOS requirement before launch.

Does it work with Chrome?

Yes. Boo comes with an extension for Chrome and other Chrome-based browsers that catches downloads as you start them and hands them to Boo. You get parallel downloads, resume and auto-sorting without changing how you browse.

Is this the Boo dating app?

No. This Boo downloads files and tidies your Downloads folder. It won't find you a date, but a clean Downloads folder never hurt anyone's chances.

Does it track me?

No. Boo has no analytics, no tracking and no accounts. Your files and your rules stay on your Mac. This website doesn't use trackers either. The only thing we store is your email, and only if you join the waitlist.

What is Boo Classic?

Boo Classic is the original, simple Boo. It only sorted your Downloads folder. It's still free and open source on GitHub under the MIT license. Boo is a full rebuild that adds a download manager, a browser extension, video downloads, rules, undo and cleanup.
